MONTICELLO - Funeral services will be held this morning (Thursday) at 9:30 at Sacred Heart Catholic church for Mrs. Newton H. Thomas, 50. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery. Rosary services were held Wednesday evening at Goettsch Funeral home with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Kirk and the Rev. Fr. John Ptacek officiating.

Mrs. Thomas died Oct. 10 at John McDonald hospital, after an illness of several months. Frances Marie Bossler was born Feb. 17, 1916, at Watkins, the daughter of August and Mary Schulte Bossler. She received her education in the schools near Watkins.

She was married to Newton H. Thomas, Aug. 1, 1935 at Union, Mo. The couple lived in Union, Mo. for a number of years before moving to Waterloo. Mr. Thomas purchased the Thomas Bakery in Monticello Oct. 30, 1945 and Mrs. Thomas had assisted her husband in its operation.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church.

She is survived by her husband; seven children, Edwin of Marion, Mrs. Carl (Mary) Muller of Monticello, Mrs. Michael (Janice) Waterhouse of Anamosa, Mrs. Marc (Karolyn) Beckman of Union, Mo., Thomas, Helen and James of Monticello.

Also surviving are her parents; two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Steinford of Van Horn and Mrs. Russell Paulsen of Keystone; one brother, Loren of Vinton and 10 grandchildren.
