OLIN - Funeral services for Diedrich Carstens, 101, were held June 11 at St. John's Lutheran church with burial in Olin cemetery. The Rev. J. P. Willms, Monticello, officiated.

Mr. Carstens died June 8 at the home of his son, Walther, in Lisbon. He was born Feb. 6, 1865 in Weslerstede, Oldenburg, Germany and came to the U.S. in May 1889. He was married to Sophia Quandt on Oct. 25, 1893. She died in 1961.

He farmed until retiring in 1937 and moving to Olin. In recent years, he had lived in Lisbon.

In addition to the son, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Gustave Toerber, Oxford Jct.; one sister, Meta in Germany; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
