James R. Kimrey (Leslie), 46, of Lowden, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1990 at the Veteran's Medical Center in Iowa City.

Jim was born Oct. 26, 1943, at Davenport to Irene Kimrey and was raised in Oxford Mills where he began his school. He later attended Oxford Junction High School through the 11th grade and received his G.E.D. certificate from Maquoketa Community Schools.

He entered the United States Air Force in 1960 and was discharged in 1962. He began working at Clinton Engine Company in Maquoketa, and worked there for 15 years until the plant closed. He moved to Lowden and worked at Waukesha Engines at Clinton for nine years until his health failed.

Nov. 7, 1970 he married Linda Pasold at Rock Island, Ill.

Jim was a member of American Legion Wapsie Post 473 of Oxford Junction.

He is survived by one daughter, Brandy Kimrey, of Lowden; his mother, Mrs. Howard (Irene) Leslie of Maquoketa, two half-sisters, Mrs. Dale (Beverly) Kloft of Maquoketa and Mrs. Kenneth (Sheryl) Taplin, both of Maquoketa, and one half-brother, Michael of Oxford Mills. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents.

Graveside services were held Friday, Jan. 5 at Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, the Rev. Michael Druhl officiating. Military graveside services were conducted by American Legion Wapsie Post 472 of Oxford Junction.
