ONSLOW - Funeral services for Rolland Gust Michaelis, 47, held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Hayden Funeral home in Wyoming. The Rev. Joseph Kissling officiated. Interment was in the Wyoming cemetery.

Michaelis was found dead about 6:50 a.m. Saturday by his wife, Rose. He was sitting in a truck in the D-X station which he operated in Onslow. The motor of the truck was running. Doors to the station were closed.

Dr. John Bailey, Jones county medical examiner, ruled Michaelis took his own life by carbon monoxide poisoning.

Mike Millsap, Onslow, assisted by members of the Wyoming fire department attempted to revive Michaelis with artificial resuscitation. Mrs. Michaelis told Deputy Sheriff Arnold Latuska, the investigation officer, that her husband had not returned home all night.

Mr. Michaelis was born at New Richland, Minn. June 28, 1919, the son of Robert R. and Rose Neuman Michaelis.

He married Rose Marie Wallace April 6, 1944. They were the parents of one son, Robert, now serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Irwin, Calif., and four daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Rozanne) Phillips of Victoria, Calif. and Ruth, Ramona and Rhonda Jean, all at home.

Other survivors include a granddaughter, two brothers and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

The Michaelis family moved to Onslow 13 years ago. Mr. Michaelis was employed as school janitor until 1958, when he began managing the D-X service station.

Pallbearers were Marvin Doden, John Taylor, Jr., Marvin Null, Jr., John Snyder, Dillon Hall and Donald Leinen.
