MONTICELLO - Funeral services for James F. (Ted) Hollar, 61, who died early Thursday morning, June 2, at John McDonald hospital, were held at First Presbyterian church in Monticello Saturday afternoon, June 4. The Rev. John Benj. Wild officiated. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery. Masonic rites were held at the graveside.

James F. Hollar was born Jan. 9, 1905 at Botna, the son of James and Rebecca Knight Hollar. He received his education in the Shelby county schools.

He married Velma Lorenzen June 23, 1934, and the couple had made their home in Monticello for the past 25 years. He had been employed by the Northwestern Bell Telephone company for the past 40 years, as a construction foreman and recently as a surveyor for the company in Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Hollar was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Monticello, Burns Lodge AF&AM, Knights of Pythias and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Dottie) Martin of Ames, Mrs. Marvin (Judy) Rathman and Mrs. Dean (Bonnie) Ricklefs, both of Anamosa; seven grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Alfred (Irene) Young of Bayard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers.

Pallbearers were Gerald Rohr, Sr., George Jaeger, Leonard Hollar, Norman Plath, Verral Swanson and Ronald Fritz.
