MONTICELLO - Grace M. Himes, widow of the late Frederick Himes, died at the Kleineck Nursing home, Onslow, early Saturday morning, Oct. 9, following an illness of several months. Funeral services were held from Goettsch Funeral home Monday, Oct. 11. The Rev. Howard J. Eldrenkamp officiated. Burial was at Oakwood cemetery.

Grace Margaret Dirks was born Oct. 1, 1885 at Monticello, the daughter of Dietrick and Catherine Hinrichs Dirks. She was married to Frederick A. Himes Dec. 10, 1902 and the couple lived in the Monticello community. Mr. Himes died in June 1951. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, one son and one sister.

Survivors include six children, Fred of Richland Center, Wis., Loren of Monticello, Mrs. Henry (Leveda) Gill of Peoria, Ill., Mrs. Raymond (Doris) Egger of Monticello, Dewayne of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Russell (Lucille) Hayes of Peoria, Ill.

Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; one brother, George Dirks of Hopkinton, and three sisters, Mrs. Kate Schlemmer of Muscatine and Mrs. Anna Olmsted and Mrs. Meta Schoon of Monticello.

Pallbearers were Fred Himes, Daryl Himes, Larry Himes, Loren Himes, Roland Himes and Michael Himes.
