MONTICELLO - James Fleming, 85, died Monday at John McDonald hospital after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 9, at 9:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart church with burial at Immaculate Conception cemetery in Castle Grove.

James Fleming was born July 4, 1880 in Castle Grove, the son of Thomas and Mary Church Fleming. He never married. He farmed in the Castle Grove area until retiring 15 years ago. Since that time he had lived in Monticello, but spent his winter in Tuscon, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include one brother Thomas of Ryan.

Pallbearers were Clem Kehoe, Francis Sullivan, Earl Drummy, Vincent Donovan, Paul Brady, Jack Crowley and James Hogan.
