MONTICELLO - Funeral services for William F. Cooper were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian church in Monticello with the Rev. John Benjamin Wild officiating. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Cooper died early Saturday morning, May 28, at John McDonald hospital after an illness of several weeks. He was born Dec. 2, 1879, the son of William and Elizabeth Barnts Cooper, in Monticello. He received his education in the rural Jones county schools and married Anna Eggers April 2, 1908.

The couple farmed in the Monticello area for a number of years before moving to their home in Monticello in 1952. Mr. Cooper was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Monticello and the Modern Woodman lodge.

He is survived by his wife; eight children, Mrs. Lloyd (Mable) King, Lone Tree; Mrs. Harold (Sylvia) Stotler, West Branch; Mrs. James (Wanda) Waldron, San Jose, Calif.; Mrs. John (Lauretta) O'Toole, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. William (Eleanor) Schlimmer, Monticello; Ernest and Harlan Cooper, Anamosa; Dean Cooper, Hopkinton. Twenty-three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Pallbearers were Ronald King, Kenneth Cooper, Dennis Cooper, Ricky Cooper, Nick O'Toole and Jack O'Toole.
