Funeral services for L. J. Schlemme, 69, who died Sunday morning of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, were held Tuesday afternoon at Goettsch Funeral home, Monticello. The Rev. John Benj. Wild officiated. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, Monticello.

Mr. Schlemme was born Oct. 25, 1895 at Langworthy, the son of Henry and Anna Ahrnken Schlemme. He attended the Scotch Grove rural schools. On Nov. 1, 1916, he married Oral K. Hutton of Scotch Grove. Following his marriage, he farmed in the Scotch Grove community, then moved to Monticello. After spending five years at Sioux Rapids, he returned to Monticello where in recent years he had been a seed corn salesman.

Mr. Schlemme was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 17, 1962. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Bender, Monticello, and one brother, Fred H. Schlemme, Fort Pierre, S.D.

Pallbearers were Harold Gottleaber, Raymond Leytem, Ed Meier, Lester Rickels, William T. Folkers and William Jansen.
