MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Melvin G. Tobiason, 47, were held Saturday morning at Wayne Zion Lutheran church, rural Monticello, with the Rev. Luther Wachholz officiating. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, Monticello.

Mr. Tobiason died Tuesday afternoon, May 17, at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids. He had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at his home early that morning.

He was born Aug. 2, 1918 at Monticello, the son of Michael and Lena Rickels Tobiason. He attended the Jones county schools. He was married to Mildred Pede of Monticello on Sept. 15, 1943. He farmed in Wayne township.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Sheryl of Monticello, and his step-mother, Mrs. Catherine Tobiason of Monticello. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Pallbearers included George Tobiason, Leo Ambuehl, Harvey Stutt, Louie Hayen, Donald Rickels and Richard Schoon.
