MONTICELLO - George D. Ricklefs, 65, died at the Springville Nursing home Saturday evening, Sept. 28, after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Goettsch Funeral home in Monticello, with burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Born May 11, 1898 near Monticello, he was the son of Henry J. and Conradina Gronevald Ricklefs. On Jan. 14, 1925, he was married to Louisa Kraus of Worthington. The couple farmed near Monticello then later in the Delhi area and returned to Monticello six years ago. He was then employed by the Georgia-Pacific company until his retirement the first of June of this year. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Herman and one sister.

Survivors include his wife and one son Richard L. Ricklefs of Monticello; three grandchildren, and eight brothers and sisters, Henry, Carl and Clarence of Monticello, Ernest of Langworthy, Mrs. Fred J. Poppe of Monticello, Mrs. Louie Zimmerman and Mrs. Mable Sutton, both of Anamosa and Mrs. Fred Cords of Delhi.
