MONTICELLO - Mrs. Theodore (Minnie) Behrends died Aug. 16 at John McDonald hospital following a five week illness. Funeral services were held Monday at St. John's Lutheran church with the Rev. C. C. Gutekunst in charge. Burial was in St. John's cemetery.

Born Aug. 13, 1887 in Germany, she was the daughter of Gerhard and Mary Buscher Cassens. She came to the U.S. when she was 15 years old. On July 11, 1907, she was married to Theodore Behrends. They made their home on a farm in the Onslow, Scotch Grove area. Mr. Behrends died Jan. 29, 1937. She lived in Cedar Rapids from 1951 until 1962 when she made her home with her children.

Survivors include her children: Louis B., Amber; Mrs. Vincent (Velma) Simmons; Mrs. Raymond (Anna M.) Schoon and Henry W. Behrends, all of Monticello.

Also surviving are five sisters and one brother: Mrs. Margaret Lurkens, Owatonna, Minn.; Mrs. Anna Petersen, Monticello, Mrs. William (Lena) Company of Owatonna, Minn.; Henry Cassens, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Donald (Matilda) Richardson of Greenville, Pa.; and Mrs. Emma Schuss of Dundas, Minn. There are 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
