Victor J. Lawrence, 89, Anamosa, died early Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 1, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Prairieburg. Rev. Louis Turzil conducted the service. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Pallbearers included Ray Machart, Donald Dolan, William Kula, Stanley Kula, Harry Holub and Art Kula.

He was born Jan. 10, 1875, son of John Lawrence and Barbara Fousek Lawrence. He was married to Emma Broulik, Mount Vernon, on Feb. 26, 1900.

Survivors include three sons, Louis Lawrence, Los Angeles, Calif.; Guy Lawrence, Vinton; and Leo Lawrence, Prairieburg; two daughters, Levona, Mrs. Leo Machert, Anamosa; and Regina, Mrs. Ted Patnode, Anamosa.

Other survivors include two brothers, Mike Lawrence, Prairieburg; and John Lawrence, Oxford Junction; one sister, Mrs. Mary Beanasek, Prairieburg; 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two grandson, Leonard "Mike" Lawrence and Gilbert Lawrence.
