November 6, 1947 - The Anamosa Journal

Miss Bertha Remley, 72, former Anamosa resident, died Saturday afternoon at her home in Seattle, Wash., after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Judge and Mrs. H. M. Remley, and the eldest of their 10 children.

Funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon at Seattle, after which her body was cremated. Her ashes will be returned to Anamosa for burial in the Remley family lot in Riverside cemetery.

Miss Remley was born Aug. 15, 1875, in Anamosa. She was graduated from the Anamosa high school and the State University of Iowa. She taught in the high school at Anamosa and other cities in Iowa and later went to Seattle, where she taught continuously until her retirement about a year ago.

She is survived by three sisters, Miss Elsie Remley and Miss Agnes Remley, both Seattle, and Mrs. Clara Yenter, and two brothers, James E. Remley, Anamosa, and R. G. Remley, Webster City.

Committal service for Miss Bertha Remley, 72, former Anamosa resident, who died Nov. 1 in Seattle, Wash., will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Riverside cemetery.

Miss Remley's ashes will be buried in the Remley family lot, with Rev. Walter D. Wigger of the Anamosa Baptist church, officiating.
