Fletcher Emerson, 87, died Sunday at 1 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lee Bruce, Anamosa.

Funeral service was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Smykil-Goettsch Home for Funerals. Rev. Edgar E. Walker, jr., was in charge of the service. Hymns, "The City Foursquare" and "Abide with Me" were sung by Mrs. Vincent Owen and Miss Florence Hale with Mrs. Glen A. Russell at the piano.

Interment was made in Green cemetery, near Morley.

Casket bearers were nephews--Loyal Byerly, Marion Grafft, Leland Starry, Lee Voorhies, Fred Kauffman and Harry Connor.

Fletcher Emerson was born March 1, 1861 at Olin, the son of George and Sarah Titus Emerson. Except for one year in Woodbury and two in Cherokee counties, Mr. Emerson lived his entire life in the vicinity of Anamosa. He was one of a family of 11 children, all of whom preceded him in death.

Mr. Emerson was married to Polly Starry at Independence on Oct. 3, 1882. She preceded him in death on April 2, 1941.

Three children born to the marriage, who survive, are: Mrs. Lee Bruce, Anamosa; Mrs. Lee Starry, Central City; and Truman Fletcher Emerson, Waterloo.

In addition to the three children, Mr. Emerson is survived by five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great, granddaughter.
