29 January 1948 - The Anamosa Journal

Requiem high mass for John J. Machart, 72, who died Monday at 8 a.m. in his home at Anamosa, was celebrated Wednesday morning in St. Patrick's Catholic church by Rev. John A. McMahon.

Casket bearers, all nephews, were James Flannigan, Ryan; James Holub, Prairieburg; Stanley Zimmerman, Maurice Neville, Harry Neville and Leo Hulub, all Anamosa.

Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery, Prairieburg.

Mr. Machart was born March 3, 1875, near Prairieburg and farmed before he retired and move to Anamosa. He was married to Anna Holub and was a member of St. Patrick's church. For the last 13 years he was a director of the Anamosa Farmers Creamery Co.

Survivors include three sons, Leo Machart, Eddie Machart and Ray Machart, Anamosa; one daughter, Mrs. Ray Monahan, Anamosa; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Zimmerman, Anamosa, and Mrs. James Flannigan, Ryan, and a brother, Frank Machart, Prairieburg. His wife died in January, 1947.
