Service for William Eugene Leggett, 87, who died Aug. 22 at the home of his son, Irvin Fay Leggett, Anamosa, was held Sunday afternoon at the Goettsch funeral home, Monticello.

Rev. Edgar E. Walker, jr., pastor of the Anamosa Methodist church, officiated. Interment was in the Scotch Grove cemetery.

Mr. Leggett was born July 4, 1860, at Fayette. At the age of 11, he came to Scotch Grove to live with relatives. On July 19, 1887, he was married to Mary Ellen Fuller, who died in 1910. He was a member of the Scotch Grove Presbyterian church.

He is survived by three children, William Steven Leggett, Scotch Grove; Lucy Lavina Bock, Denver, Colo., and Irvin Leggett, Anamosa; a brother, Charles Leggett, Danville, Penn.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
