Paul Joseph Cash, 47, died at the Veterans' hospital at Des Moines last Sunday noon where he entered for treatment on Tuesday, September 30.

Funeral service was held last Wednesday at 8 a.m. with requiem high mass at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Anamosa with Rev. J. A. McMahon conducted the service. Burial was in the family lot in Holy Cross cemetery at Anamosa. McNamara Funeral home was in charge of the service.

Casket bearers were John W. McNamara, Albert J. Ament, John D. McCrea, Bruce Ruhl, Maurice Neville and Joe Wolfe.

Mr. Cash was the son of the late Charles J. Cash, sr., Anamosa attorney and former publisher of the The Anamosa Journal, and Mrs. Mary Kennedy Cash. His mother died in1901, after Paul's birth on Jan. 16, 1900. His father died in 1938.

Paul was engaged in newspaper work for the Winterest Madisonian prior to his illness two weeks ago.

Mr. Cash was well-known in Iowa Legion circles. After his graduation from Anamosa high school in 1918, he entered the Navy the next day at the age of 18. When he returned from the service he was elected commander of Arthur McCullough post No. 13 of the American Legion at Anamosa a the age of 20. At the age of 21 he was elected county commander of the old Legion fifth district in 1922.

After returning from the service, Paul worked on the staff of The Anamosa Journal for five years. Then he enrolled at Creigton university where after five years of study he graduated in 1928 with a law degree.

In 1926, Paul Cash and Miss Helen Callahan, Omaha, were married at Omaha where they made their home until about 1930 when they moved to Anamosa. Paul was associated with his father in the practice of law and the operation of The Journal. In recent years, he has been engaged in newspaper work.

Mr. and Mrs. Cash were divorced. She died about five years ago. Their daughter, Mary, is Mrs. Gordon Spence, Cleveland, Ohio. She is under doctor's care and was unable to attend the service.

Survivors, in addition to Mrs. Spence, are his brother, Charles J. Cash, jr., and an uncle, Steve Cash, both of Anamosa; and an aunt, Miss Cecelia Kennedy, Joliet, Ill.
