CASS - Word has been received here of the death of George B. Colton, 85, former resident of this vicinity. Mr. Colton died on May 7 at his home in Colony, Kan.

He was born June 23, 1861 in Olean, New York, eldest son of Miles and Lois Werden Colton. He came to Cass township, Jones county, with his parents when he was three years old. He was educated here and attended business college in Dixon, Ill.

In 1891 he was married to Miss Winifred Benedict, also of Cass township. Family moved to Kansas in 1907 where they lived on a farm until about three years ago when they retired and moved to Colony.

He was a member of the Methodist church, Colony, and previously attended the Hickory Grove and Langworthy Methodist church and Sunday schools in Cass and Wayne townships.

He is survived by his wife; six children, Edna Colton, Colony; Mrs. Lois Wallace, Deora, Colo.; Clarence Colton, Leroy, Kan., Mrs. Ruth Chatterton, Topeka, Kan.; Forrest Colton, Detroit, Mich., and Rev. Ralph Colton, Cedar Rapids.

His brother, Joseph Colton, recently died at Morley.
