OLIN - Hilah Hutton 84, died Saturday, May 2, at John McDonald hospital, Monticello.

Funeral services were held at the Hayden Funeral home, Wyoming, Tuesday afternoon, May 5, at 2 (D.S.T.) Rev. John R. Schlosser officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Lacock sang and were accompanied by Mrs. Lafayette Bahnsen, organist. Interment was in the cemetery at Wyoming

Pallbearers were Max Dutcher, Marvin Hunwardsen, William Reade, Louis Nielsen, Floyd Wilson, Fred Buchholtz.

Hilah French Hutton, daughter of Isaac N. and Jane Orr French, was born Nov. 15, 1879, at Onslow. Mrs. Hutton attended Jones county rural school and received her teacher's training at State College of Iowa, Cedar Falls. She taught six years in rural schools in Jones county. She became a member of the Presbyterian church at an early age.

She was united in marriage to Charles A. Hutton, Onslow, April 20, 1904. They made their home in Onslow for nine years then moved to a farm north of Monticello, where they farmed until the death of Mr. Hutton in 1921.

Mrs. Hutton and her family moved to Monticello where she served as librarian in the Monticello public library for six years. Family then moved to Waterloo, where she did nursing.

She became a licensed practical nurse and was a member of the Practical Nurses' association. She retired from this profession in 1954 and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Walter Hartman, Anamosa.

She had been a member of the Waterloo chapter of the Order of Eastern Star since 1931. Hiawatha chapter, O.E.S., Olin, conducted services at 8 p.m., May 4, at the Hayden Funeral home.

Survivors include a son, Lloyd Hutton, Independence; a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Sybil) Hartman, Anamosa; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, George French, Los Angeles, Calif., and Clifford French, Cookeville, Tenn., two sisters, Mrs. Cora Hutton, Wyoming, and Mrs. Neil (Frances) Adams, Ames.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three sisters.
