OXFORD JUNCTION - Last rites were held Sunday afternoon from the late home for Lewis E. Hayden, 87. Rev. F. J. Mittler, Clarence, conducted the service. Singers were Mrs. Fred Lasack and Mrs. Fred Sacora with Mrs. Palmer Vaughn, pianist. Pallbearers were Joseph Kulhavy, John Burda, Fred Harms, Harro Ingwersen, August Hansen and Freeman Ethridge. Interment was in the cemetery at Olin with burial rites by the Zealous Lodge A.F. and A.M. He had been in ill health for several years and died Thursday evening in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids.

Lewis Hayden was born May 30, 1859, at Earlville, Ill. He came to make his home at Olin with his parents when a boy of six years. He was united in marriage to Emma Everhart, Oxford Junction, in October, 1878, and for many years was employed with the Milwaukee Railroad Co. as a foreman on a bridge crew. He retired from this work in 1931.

Mrs. Hayden preceded him in death in 1938, and he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Nelle Cranford, Marengo; a son, Clyde N. Hayden, Oxford Junction; two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and two brothers Delancey, Viola, and Walter, Osceola, Neb.
