22 August 1946 - The Anamosa Journal

Funeral service for James C. Griffin, 58, who died Saturday evening at his home east of Anamosa, was held Monday morning at the Smykil Home for Funerals. Burial was made Tuesday at Terrill, Iowa, with brief service at the grave. Rev. C. E. Burdine officiated at the Monday service.

Mr. Griffin, son of the late H. J. Griffin, was born Dec. 13, 1897, at Lytton, Iowa, and farmed near Terrill, until 1936, when he came to Anamosa to serve as guard at the men's reformatory.

He served in the Marine Corps during World War One. In 1934 he was married to Viola Johnson. They have one son, John Leigh.

Surviving are his wife and son, a step-daughter, Betty Reely, Anamosa; two sisters, Iva Griffin, Hollywood, Calif., and Mrs. J. P. Decker, Washington, D.C., and two brothers, L. E. Griffin and H. H. Griffin, both of Terrill.
