SCOTCH GROVE - Funeral service for Mrs. Jacob Folkerts, 75, longtime resident of Scotch Grove and vicinity, was held Sunday, May 26, at 2 p.m. at the Wayne Zion Lutheran church. She died Wednesday, May 22 at 10:45 at the McDonald hospital, Monticello, after a lingering illness.

Burial was made at Zion cemetery, Wayne. Rev. Frederick H. Kehren officiated at the service and burial.

Casket bearers were: William Folkerts, Herman Folkerts, George E. Rickels, Henry Caspers, Lawrence Hahn and William Wendt.

Christian Margaretha Husmann was born Jan. 1871 in Leerhafe, Amt Wittmund, Hanover, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harm Husmann.

At the age of nine months, she came to America with her mother and family and lived near Scotch Grove. Her father had arrived some months before.

She was married to Jacob Folkerts, April 17, 1890. For 10 years following her husband's death, July 3, 1909, she and her children continued to manage the farm. In 1919, she moved to her home at Scotch Grove. She had been hospitalized since March 14 of this year.

Mrs. Folkerts is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Henry J. Husmann, Scotch Grove; and Mrs. Henry Stadtmueller, Monticello; one brother, Tobe Husmann, Rockford, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Poppe, Coggon; Mrs. Herman Hahn, Monticello; Mrs. Anna Wendt, both of Monticello and four grandchildren. One brother and four sisters preceded her in death.
