WYOMING - Funeral service for Peter Heinrich Paulsen was held at the Zion Lutheran church, Wayne township, Jan. 8, at 1:30 p.m. Pastors, Rev. F. H. Kehren and Rev. Herbert Graening of Wyoming, officiated. Music was furnished by Mrs. Eloise McKinstry, George Harms and William Jansen. Mrs. Johanna Dannemann was at the organ. Interment was made at the Wayne Lutheran cemetery.

Mr. Paulsen was born Sept. 25, 1868 in Efterbuehl at Breitstett, Holstein, Germany. At the age of four weeks he received the blessings of God in Holy baptism. He was the son of Bahne Paulsen and Sabina Dorothea Hansen Paulsen. The deceased lost his father in death Sept. 4, 1869. The widowed mother was left with three children, Lena, Paul and Peter. With them she came to the United States in 1870.

Peter Paulsen was united in marriage with Sophia Catherina Bohlken, Feb. 16, 1899. The ceremony was performed by the departed pastor, C. Mardorf, in the Wayne Lutheran church. Shortly after the marriage he renewed his baptismal vows in the rite of confirmation in this same church. Together he and his family lived on the same farm for a period of 46 years. Since March, 1945, he and his wife lived in retirement at Onslow.

He is survived by his wife, and the following children: Mrs. Marvin Nissen, and Mrs. Amanda Westphal, Wyoming; Benhard Paulsen, at home; George Paulsen, Onslow; Meinhardt Paulsen, Center Junction, and Cornelius Paulsen, Lowden, at present in the Navy.

There survive also 10 grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Lena Heneke, Maquoketa; Mrs. Anna Petersen, Wyoming; Nicholas Holst, Cornelius Holst, Paul Paulsen, Onslow; Mrs. Lena Harms, Mrs. A. G. Hanken, Mrs. Lizzie Petersen, Monticello; other relatives and many friends.

Mr. Paulsen was a successful farmer. For a long period of years he held a directorship in the Onslow Savings bank.

On Dec. 26, 1945, it became necessary to confine him to Mercy hospital, Anamosa, where he died Jan. 6.

Relatives attending from a distance for Mr. and Mrs. Bahne Hansen and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Meggars, Mr. and Mrs. John Meggers, Mrs. Johannes Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Nissen and Mrs. Henry Lamp, all of Charlotte.
