WAYNE - Mrs. J. Fred Doden, 80, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's hospital following an illness of five weeks. Funeral service will be held at 1:45 p.m. Friday at Wayne Zion Lutheran church following service at one o'clock at the home in Monticello. Rev. F. H. Kehren will be the officiating pastor and burial will be made in the Wayne cemetery.

Talke Margaretha Dirks, daughter of Henry Harm and Engel Rickels Dirks, was born March 6, 1866, in Madison county, Ill. She moved with her parents to Pella, Iowa, and in 1878 came to Langworthy where she has made her home since.

She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith April 10, 1881, at Wayne Lutheran church. On Jan. 8, 1889, she was married to J. Fred Doden. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1939.

Surviving are seven children, Mrs. Will Plueger, Henry and Rhinehart Doden, Mrs. Henry J. Brokens and Mrs. Tobe Tobiason, Monticello; Mrs. George Plueger, Scotch Grove, and John Doden, Langworthy; 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Gerd Dirks, Langworthy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1942, and a son, Gerd, who died in 1938.
