MONTICELLO - Solemn High Mass was said for Theodore A. Schemmel, 86, Monday, Oct. 21 from St. Paul's Catholic church in Worthington by his son the Rev. Jos. Schemmel of Ionia, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. E. P. Lorenz of Monticello and Fr. Peters of Worthington. Burial was in St. Paul's cemetery, Worthington.

Mr. Schemmel died Oct. 17 at John McDonald hospital, following a short illness. He was married April 19, 1904 to Helen M. Mongerich at Worthington. They made their home in that area where they farmed until Mrs. Schemmel's death when he retired to Worthington. For the past four years he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. E. J. Schnier, rural Monticello.

He was preceded in death by his wife and daughter Marguerite, Mrs. George Kristifels and a foster son, Floyd Schemmel.

Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Jos. Schemmel of Ionia and Donald Schemmel of Cedar Falls and five daughters, Mrs. E. J. (Edith) Schnier of Monticello, Delores Schemmel of Saudi, Arabia, Mrs. Cy (Bernadette) Millenkamp of Petersburg, Mrs. William (Mary Evette) Jurgens of Hopkinton, and Mrs. Irl (Ruth) Matheny of Anaheim, Calif. There are also eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
