MONTICELLO - Emil A. Riedel 80, died Monday, July 13 at John McDonald hospital, Monticello, from a severe heart condition. He had been a patient there two days.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 16, at 11 a.m. at the Goettsch Funeral home, Monticello, with Rev. Luther Wachholz officiating. Burial was at Oakwood cemetery.

Pallbearers were Vicent Haag, Ted Krouse, Nick Clement, William Brokens, Raymond Buol; and Michael Stadmueller.

He was born June 4, 1884, at Nueemde, Osfriesland, Germany, the son of Johann and Margaretha Onken Riedel. He was first married to Kathrine S. Schwank Aug. 4, 1904, and they became the parents of six children. She preceded him in death Aug. 5, 1918.

He married Antonetta Claussen March 29, 1923, and the family came to the United States in November of the same year. He was a cabinet maker by trade. Family made the Monticello area their home.

Survivors include his wife Antonetta Riedel, Monticello; two sons, Arthur G., Langworthy, and Otto W., Dubuque; three daughters, Mrs. (Henrietta) Silver, Glenview, Ill., Mrs. Joseph (Hermina) Ringhofer, Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Delbert (Meta) Thom, Burbank, Wash.

Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Hanna Uhr, Wilhelmshafen, Germany.
