OXFORD JUNCTION - Funeral service was held Sunday afternoon for Horace P. Barber, 82, from the Presbyterian church at Wyoming. Mr. Barber, prominent Jones county farmer and horse dealer, died suddenly at the home of his son, Robert, at Oxford Junction, Thursday afternoon of a heart attack.

Rev. J. K. Blakemore, pastor of the church, conducted the service. Pallbearers were Henry Fishwalk, Walter Edwards, Victor Tatak, Roy Cooley, George Lyons and Frank Pealer. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery with Masonic rites at the grave.

Mr. Barber was born Oct. 20, 1864, on a farm north of Wyoming, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Barber, early pioneer settlers. He was well known throughout eastern Iowa as a buyer and shipper of horses. He was elected to the Jones county board of supervisors and served for 12 years. His last term expired in 1942. He was a member of the Keystone Lodge A.F. and A.M., Wyoming, and of the Clinton consistory and of the New Era Lodge Kights of Pythias, Oxford Junction.

He was united in marriage to Mary Belle Leech, Center Junction, Feb. 29, 1892, who died in 1902. Two children of this marriage survive: Robert, Oxford Junction, and Mrs. Elwood Kirkpatrick, Clarence.

In 1914 he was married to Isabelle Smith, Onslow, who preceeded him in death in 1940, at which time then he came to make his home with his children.

Surviving besides his son and daughter are six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Two sisters and a brother preceeded him in death.
