MONTICELLO - LeRoy William Schoon of Cedar Rapids, former Monticello resident, died July 23 at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a heart attack.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. July 26 at St. Matthew Lutheran church with the Rev. Anton Kirkegaard officiating. Burial was at Oakwood cemetery.

Born April 30, 1916 near Scotch Grove, he was the son of the late William G. and Etta Balster Schoon. He graduated from the Monticello public schools in 1933 and was affiliated with the Schoon garage of Monticello. He was married March 7, 1940 to Ardith Kohl of Martelle.

In 1958, Mr. and Mrs. Schoon with their family moved to Cedar Rapids. Mr. Schoon was employed with the guard security at Collins Radio company for the past 10 1/2 years. He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran church in Cedar Rapids.

Surviving are his wife Ardith of the home; three children, Mrs. Carl (Judith) Morning of Cedar Rapids and Larry and Randy both at home; two brothers, George C. and Raymond C. of Monticello; four sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Clara) Adix of Glenville, Minn., Velma Winkler of Monticello, Mrs. Lucia Vesey of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Hershel (Doris) Ponder of Monticello.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daugher, Lea Jeanette.
