MONTICELLO - Sievert Sievertsen, 76, died suddenly at his home in Monticello Wednesday, Aug. 19. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Wayne Zion Lutheran church with the Rev. Luther Wachholz officiating. Burial was at Wayne Zion cemetery.

Mr. Sievertsen was born Aug. 27, 1887 at Hattstedt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the son of Jens G. and Jetta Thomsen Sievertsen. He came to the United States in 1912. He was married Feb. 6, 1914 at Olin to Anna Helena Christiansen. He farmed in Jones county until seven years ago when he moved to Monticello. He was a member of Wayne Zion Lutheran church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife Anna at home and the following children: Mrs. John (Jennie) Rathmann of Oxford Jct., Mrs. Carl (Ella) Eggers of Monticello, Bennie of Anamosa and Carl of Denver, Colo. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers were Fred E. Poppe, George Hagen, Carl H. Harms, J. Henry Hinrichs, George Schafer and Ed Husmann.
