MARTELLE - Funeral service for Carl E. Mershon, 76, who died suddenly at his home near Martelle last Thursday, was held Sunday at the Martelle Christian church, Rev. Samuel D. Noah officiating minister.

Loder Funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were William Bailey, Roy Duncan, Merle Murfield, S. H. Ellison, Roy Ireland and Frances Robertson, all of whom were his brethren in the Pythian lodge at Martelle. Masonic service was conducted at Forest Chapel cemetery by the Olin lodge.

Carl E. Mershon, son of Nimrod and Harriet Mershon, was born in Greenfield township, July 25, 1868.

Surviving are his wife and son, Gerald, at home, and two step-children, John A. Clay, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Chester Holcomb, Anamosa; two sisters, Mrs. R. L. McAlister, Des Moines, and Mrs. Golda Dingman, Morley, and three grandchildren.
