James Parks, 43, son of Frank Parks who lives near Anamosa, was killed at 8:30 last Friday morning in a 30-foot fall from a light pole while working as a city lineman at Waverly. He reached for the pole as he unbuckled his safety belt and fell backwards, breaking his neck.

Funeral services were held Monday evening at a Waverly home for funerals and Tuesday afternoon at Bloomfield, where burial was made in the Oddfellow's cemetery. The Rev. A. J. Kindred, Waverly, officiated at these services.

James F. Parks was born March 22, 1901, near Anamosa, and attended the rural school in his community. He spent his entire life in Iowa with the exception of two years in which he followed his trade as lineman in Oklahoma and Kansas.

Surviving are his wife and daughter, Sandra, 2; a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Kelly, by a previous marriage; his father; two brothers, Marion, Anamosa, and Carl, somewhere in the Pacific with the U.S. Navy; and one sister, Grace Moyer, Central City; several nieces and nephews.
