OLIN - Funeral service for W. F. Houstman, 84, was held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. W. E. Strait in charge, assisted by Rev. W. T. Boston of the U.B. church. Burial was made in the Olin cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry Girrard, Roy Williams, W. B. White, L. J. Luedeman, Edmund Laetare and Joe Pieper.

Willard Fayette Houstman was born Nov. 5, 1860. He was educated in the rural schools of Jackson township and in Mrs. Springer's academy in Anamosa. While a young man he spent four years staking out and developing a cattle ranch near Sturgis and Faedwood, S.D.

In the spring of 1885 he returned to Iowa, and married Jennie M. Rouse, who died in 1942. Five sons and one daughter were born to the union. Children who survive are Chauncey R. Houstman, Clinton; Arthur, Oscar and Edgar Houstman, Olin, and Mrs. Jeanette Scott, Macedonia.

Other survivors are five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers, M. W. Houstman, Olin; Raleigh Houstman, Anamosa, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Voorhies, Cedar Rapids.

He was a member of the Olin Methodist church, and was director of the district school for several terms, township trustee and member of the election board.
