May 24, 1945 - The Anamosa Journal

Funeral service for Mrs. Sarah Leach, 89, who died Friday at Mount Pleasant, Ia., was held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Beam and Miller Funeral Home in Anamosa. Rev. E. A. Schlaman was the officiating minister.

Burial was made in Riverside cemetery. Pallbearers were S. H. Ellison, Harry Holcomb, Clayton Murfield and Charles Darsee, all of Martelle. Miss Betty Sigworth sang, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. O. M. Miller.

Sarah Louise Brown was born June 15, 1855, in Dutchess county, New York. She came to Iowa, and was married to R. B. Lovell. To this union four children were born. Later she married R. L. Leach, and three children were born to the union.

Most of her life was spent in Clinton and Anamosa vicinities. She was a member of the Fairview Methodist church.

Surviving are three children, Mrs. Emma Peet, Anamosa; Miss Addie Leach, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Ethel Paul, Santa Ana, Calif.; two grandchildren, Mrs. Mildred Underwood, San Diego, Calif., and Marjorie Peet, Anamosa; and two great-grandchildren.
