OXFORD JUNCTION - Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at Lutheran church for Charles A. Leffingwell, 94, Oxford Junction's oldest resident. The Reverend Fred C. Maurer conducted the service. Hymns were sung by Mrs. A. E. Hodoval, Mrs. Ernest Schwab, Mrs. Louie Ingwersen and Mrs. Otto Koranda, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Palmer Vaughn. Floral offerings were in charge of Mrs. Fred Lasack, Mrs. Raymond Kramer and Mrs. John McGuire. Pallbearers were John Miller, Ernest Schwab, R. J. Barth, Louie Wasoba, Roy Jones and August Hansen. Burial was in Mayflower cemetery.

Charles A. Leffingwell was born Nov. 14, 1850, in Warren county, Ohio. He started west with his parents. His father died on the trip of cholera, and with his mother he arrived in Jones county in 1853. Home was made on a farm east of Oxford Junction. Later Mr. Leffingwell married Mary Rathbone, Oxford Junction, and they made their home on the farm at the north edge of town, which Mr. Leffingwell called his home until the time of his death. For nine years they retired and lived in Cedar Rapids, returning to the home in 1929. His wife died in 1937.

He is survived by one son, Ed, Orlando, Fla., and two daughters, Mrs. Louis Zeller, Oxford Junction, and Mrs. Grace Bogenrief, Orlando, and six grandchildren.

Mr. Loeffingwell died Wednesday evening, Feb. 29 at a hospital in Davenport, where he had been taken a month ago.
