Funeral services for Galen D. Finnigan, 50, former Anamosa resident who died suddenly at 4 p.m. last Thursday in Cedar Rapids from an attack of heart disease was held there Saturday afternoon.

Rev. David I. Berger of Coe college delivered the sermon. Military service at the grave was conducted by the Cedar Rapids post of the American Legion, of which he was a member. Burial was in the Cedar Memorial cemetery.

Finnigan, owner of the Super Service Oil company in Cedar Rapids, was born Nov. 7, 1894, near Martelle in Greenfield township, on the farm where his father was born.

He lived at Mechanicsville and Anamosa before moving to Cedar Rapids about 18 years ago. He and his father were founders of the Buffalo Oil company in Anamosa.

He had operated the Cedar Rapids concern about 10 years, and was a director in the Iowa State Petroleum association.

Survivors are his wife, Emma; a son, Lieut. R. Dean Finnigan, in the marine corps at El Centro, Calif.; his father, Ren D. Finnigan, Anamosa; three sisters, Mrs. Allen D. Jackson, Mechanicsville; Mrs. John L. Petersen, Lisbon; and Mrs. Leland Hoyman, Fort Dodge.

He was a member of the Hanford post, American Legion, Cedar Rapids, having served 11 months overseas in World war I as a member of the signal corps, 148th telegraph battalion. He also belonged to the Elks.

Relatives from a distance who attended the service, besides the immediate family, included S. H. Finnigan, Green Bay, Wis.; Miss Grace Cox, Omaha, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Bowen and daughter, Chicago; Pvt. and Mrs. Don Sigmund, Madison, Wis.
