Funeral service for Mrs. J. L. Sheesley, 67, who died Friday at her home in Anamosa, was held Sunday afternoon at the Smykil funeral home. Rev. M. L. Sunderlin of the Methodist church officiated. Burial was at Riverside cemetery.

Pallbearers were William Gassen, Charles Leggett, L. A. Downing, Warren Lawrence, T. M. Brown and Roy Weighels.

She was born, Mary C. Gould, daughter of Charles and Margaret Armour Gould, at Friendsville, Ill., Feb. 9, 1878. Family moved to New Sharon, Ia., when she was a small child. She grew up there, and taught in the rural schools of that vicinity as a young woman. Later she taught in the New Sharon public schools.

She was married to J. L. Sheesley June 1, 1898. To this union one child, J. Roy, was born. Family home was near Pella, Ia., for a number of years, and then near Tingley, Ia.. After leaving the farm, they engaged in business in Tingley and later in Des Moines. They moved to Anamosa in 1936.

She was a member of the Methodist church, the Legion Auxiliary and the Rebekah lodge.

Surviving are her husband, her son, J. Roy, Des Moines. a brother, Armour, Dubuque, and nieces and nephews.
