Solemn high requiem mass was celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Anamosa Wednesday morning for Mary Frances Houser, 28, who died Sunday in a Rochester, Minn., hospital, following a long illness. St. Patrick's choir provided the music with Albert Ament as soloist. Celebrant was Father J. A. McMahon, deacon was Father Cerovy, Prairieburg, sub-deacon, Father Loras Holmberg, Mercy hospital pastor. Rev. E. P. Ament of the Loras college faculty, gave the sermon. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery, Prairieburg. Pallbearers were: Robert Ament, Otto Houser, Jerry Kula, Otto Bisinger, Edward Kula and Stanley Holub. Arrangements were in charge of the McNamara Funeral Home.

She was born at Prairieburg, June 14, 1916. She attended the Central City schools, and later the Anamosa high school. She was a life-long devout member of the Catholic church, and active in its work.

She was treasurer of the Young Democrats club of the district, and participated in all community affairs. She made her home with the Albert Ament family for 12 years, assisting with work at the dry goods store.

Body rested at the Ament home Tuesday, where Rosary was read Tuesday night.

Surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Houser, Cedar Rapids; four sisters, Mrs. Vernon Less, Marengo; and Helen, Agnes and Margaret, Cedar Rapids; four brothers, Edward, Anamosa; Ralph, Seaman first class, U. S. Navy, Donald and Virgil, both of Cedar Rapids, four nieces and a nephew.

She underwent four serious operations at the hospital in Rochester prior to her death.

Among those who attended the service were Robert Ament, student at Loras college, Dubuque; and Ernest Ament, student at Campion school, Prairie Du Chien, Wis.; two sisters from the Dubuque Visitation, and friends and relatives from Cascade, Dyersville, Petersburg, Hopkinton, Dubuque and Cedar Rapids.
