November 30, 1944 - The Anamosa Journal

Mrs. Guy Byerly, 53, died Thursday morning at her home in Anamosa, following more than a year's illness. Funeral service arrangements have not been made pending word from a daughter, Mrs. Fred Bonk, Des Moines. Another daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Davison, Sunnyside, Wash., will not be able to come. Body is at the Loder funeral home.

Survivors besides her daughters are her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Lamb, Chicago; and Mrs. Marjorie Sherrill, Wyoming; and four brothers, L. J. Rose, Oregon; H. C. Rose, overseas with the armed forces; Ronald Rose, Cedar Rapids; and Roscoe Rose, Boone.

Funeral services for Mrs. Guy Byerly, 53, who died at her home in Anamosa last Thursday after a long illness, was held Saturday afternoon at the Loder Funeral home. Rev. Homer E. Dalrymple of the Congregational church officiated. Burial was in the Antioch cemetery. Pallbearers were George Soper, Ed Herren, Clarence Neilson, Bertle Cross, Stanley Waggoner and Henry Ricklefs.

Nina Blanche Rose, daughter of Lucius J. and May Freeman Rose, was born near Olin, April 19, 1891.

Jan. 1, 1914, she married Guy Byerly, Anamosa. They established their home on a farm in the Antioch community, east of Anamosa, where she was active in church and community affairs. In 1928 they moved to Anamosa, where they resided until the time of her death.

She was an active worker in the Evangeline Rebekah lodge, past Noble Grand of the organization, and served as a district instructor for many years.

Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy B. Davidson, Sunnyside, Wash., and Mrs. Alta M. Bonk, Des Moines, Ia. and three grandchildren, Beverly, Terry and Judith Davison.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. M. D. Lamb, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Lee Sherrill, Wyoming, Ia.; four brothers, L. J. Rose, Hillsboro, Ore.; Ronald, Cedar Rapids; Roscoe, Bonne, and Capt. H. C., U. S. Army.
