OLIN - Oscar Newton Hollingsworth, 84, Olin, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, at his home in Olin, following a lingering illness.

Prayer service was held Saturday, Nov. 23, at the family home at 1:15 p.m., followed by services at the Olin E.U.B. church at 1:30. Rev. Lloyd Dutro, pastor, conducted the service. Interment was in the Green Center cemetery.

Pallbearers included William Kell, Willard Hoyman, Virgil Vernon, Lloyd Andre, Arno Lawson and Howard Biere.

Henry Biere, jr., was soloist, accompanied at the organ by Nellie Stivers. Church flower committee was in charge of floral tributes.

Ancient Landmark lodge, Olin, had charge of Masonic rites.

He was born Aug. 18, 1879, son of William Richard and Effie Ann Hotz Hollingsworth, near Coffeyville, Kan. At the age of 8 years he came with his parents to Iowa where they settled in the Morley vicinity. He grew to manhood in the Morley community.

At the age of 20 he began to follow the carpenter's trade which he followed most of his adult life. Jan. 17, 1919, he was united in marriage to Golda Mae Hayes at the parsonage home of the brides' parents, Morley.

In addition to working at the carpenter's trade he had been engaged in farming for approximately 20 years. He had been a member of Ancient Landmark lodge, No. 200, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Olin, since 1916.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Arthur R. and Robert E. Hollingsworth, both of Cedar Rapids, and Newton, jr., Olin one daughter, Mts. Genevieve Huffman, Lowden.

Others include three half brothers, Clyde Lindly, Marion; Henry Lindly, Central City, and Archie Lindly, Martelle, five grandsons and five granddaughters, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, William H., who died as the result of an auto accident March 7, 1948, his parents, two brothers and one half brother.
