Jones county's first traffic fatality became a reality Thursday, April 23, when Keith Emmert, 23, of Monticello died in University hospital in Iowa City.

Emmert was injured April 4 when his motorcycle collided with a car on Highway 151 half a mile north of Anamosa. He suffered extensive pelvic injuries and fractures of both legs and his left arm.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 25, at St. Luke's Methodist church, Monticello. Burial was in the Oakwood cemetery.

Emmert is survived by his mother, Mrs. Jane Emmert of Monticello; his father, Ernest Emmert of Anamosa; three sisters Mrs. Arthur Husmann of Scotch Grove; Mrs. Vedron Schirke, Davenport, and Mrs. (line missing) four brothers, Walter of Wyoming, John of Mechanicsville, Reginald, Alder Wood Mannor, Washington, and Edward of Scotch Grove.
