Alan Lee Serbousek, 81, passed away January 31, 2021 at home with loved ones after a courageous 18 year battle with prostate cancer. There will no services at this time. Al has donated his body to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. By using the Guestbook tab, located to the left, you may share your thoughts, memories, and condolences with his family.

He was born November 23, 1939, the son of Leonard and June (Huffman) Serbousek.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years Marlene (Scharff), his two sons, who he was so proud of, Todd and Craig and Val Markus his special daughter-in-law, his wonderful mother June, his brother-in-law Larry (Martha) Scharff, nieces and nephews Lisa (Glen) Hay, Darcy (Chad) Scharff and Kerry (Nora) Scharff, and his special great nieces and nephews.

Al worked at Rockwell for 38 years, making many lifelong friends. Continuing those friendships after retiring, meeting at the Starlite on Fridays for hamburgers was a special time. His friends were important to him, from his coffee crew, who loved arguing sports and politics, to all their special couples and old friends who have remained so close.

Anyone who knew him knew how much he loved to fish. Making over 50 trips with family and friends and later with a special group of friends were memories he cherished.

In the last 15 years Al and Marlene wintered in Florida making so many wonderful friends there as well.

He loved his jobs, driving cars for Wayne Hall, and his best job ever, delivering flowers for Anamosa Floral and their wonderful families.

Please remember Al for who he was, kind, loving and having fun. He will be missed. We hope to gather at a later date to share memories of him. A thank you to all of our neighbors and friends – your kindness was so appreciated. Special thanks to all his doctors, nurses, palliative gals and Above and Beyond for your love and support.
