Clarence P. Maine, 57, died Thursday, April 16, at Palatine, Ill., following a lingering illness.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 18, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic church, Anamosa. Rev. J. A. McMahon conducted the service. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery. McNamara Funeral home, Anamosa, was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers included Lawrence Conmey, Lawrence Shanney, Cecil Farmer, William McGovern, Leonard Coleman and Louis Gaddie.
He was born April 12, 1906, son of James Maine and Mary Rhatigan Maine, Anamosa. He was married to Marie O'Brien, Chicago, Ill., on April 21, 1927, at Chicago.
He worked for American Telephone and Telegraph, Chicago. He graduated from Anamosa high school with the class of 1925.
Survivors included his mother, Mrs. Fitzsimmons, Monticello; two daughters, Eileen, Mrs. Harry Benstein, and Laura Lee, Mrs. Jeffrey Jerome, both of Palatine, Ill.; an aunt, Mrs. Frank Marek, Marion, and seven grandchildren.
Other survivors include three half-sisters, Mrs. Helen Prokap, and Mrs. Leona Higgs, both of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Lillian Gaddie, Hopkinton; three half-brothers, Edward Fitzsimmons, Tampa, Fla.; Alfred Fitzsimmons, Dubuque; and William Fitzsimmons, Gary, Ind.
