18 July 1963 - The Anamosa Eureka

Carlos Herr, 86, Anamosa, died Tuesday, July 16, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 18, at 2 p.m., at the Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. J. Ellis Webb officiated at the service. Burial was in Cedar Memorial cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Pallbearers included August J. Pearson, Everett Custis, Joe N. Miller, Lora McNamara, Carl Grabbe and Robert Keseberg.

He was born Nov. 6, 1876, at Cleveland, Ohio. He was married to Ottie Hastings, Feb. 12, 1902. He worked as an interior decorator.

He came to Anamosa when he was nine years old. After his marriage couple lived in Anamosa, except for one year spent in Cedar Rapids, and from 1925 to 1930 they lived in Detroit. Since returning from Detroit couple had made their home in Anamosa.

Survivors include his wife, Ottie; two daughters, Mildred Herr and Lois Herr, both of Cedar Rapids; one son, Clifford Herr, Monticello, and one granddaughter, Kathie Herr.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kenneth, in October, 1959.
