OXFORD JUNCTION--Last rite was held Friday morning for Mike Lasack, 85, in the Sacred Heart church, with the Rev. Father Joseph Gregor in charge of the service. Floral offerings were in charge of Ceclia Lasack, Oxford Junction, and Blanche and Dorothy Lasack, Lost Nation. Six grandsons served as pallbearers, Godfrey, Stanley and Joe Lasack, Oxford Junction, and Emile Lasack and Carl and Wesley Laurence, Prairieburg. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.
Mike Lasack died at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, early Wednesday morning, April 12, following a stroke which he suffered on Saturday previous. He was born in Bohemia, 1859, the son of Frank and Elizabeth Lasack and came to America with his parents when a small child.
He was united in marriage to Mary Vacek in Oxford Junction, and they farmed for many years, retiring later to make Oxford Junction their home. Mrs. Lasack died in 1931.
He is survived by two sons, John, Oxford Junction; Henry, Lost Nation; two daughters, Mrs. Julia Laurence and Mrs. Frances Laurence, Prairieburg, 19 grandchildren; three brothers, Adolph, Vit and Vince, and two sisters, Mrs. John Peckosh and Mrs. James Straka, all of Oxford Junction. Four brothers, Joseph, John, Albert and Frank preceded him in death.
Relatives from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Laurence and family, Coggon, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Marek and Mrs. Leo Holub, Monticello, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Laurence and son Carl, Anamosa.
