Raymond Wencil Pata (1924-2020)

Raymond Wencil Pata, 96, of Anamosa, Iowa, passed away Jan. 6, 2021, in his
home surrounded by his loving family. Per his wishes, he has been cremated.
Raymond was born July
24, 1924, in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Frank and Emma (Trachta) Pata. In 1943, he enlisted into the U.S. Army and served during World War II. After the war he worked many jobs that included managing a Me Too Grocery Store, finishing his career with 15 years of service with the Cedar Rapids Community School District. He married the love of his life Jean Thenhaus Aug. 19, 1972, in Nashua, Iowa.
He had many hobbies including traveling, crossword puzzles and eating sweets. He especially enjoyed dancing and was quite a good dancer. When he was not dancing, he enjoyed telling stories.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Jean; children, Dee (Butch) Davies and Steve (Julie) Pata; stepdaughters, Karen (John) Lund and Amy (Pete) Kohl; sister, Georgie (Del) Cline; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Raymond was loved by everyone that had the chance to meet him. He will truly be missed.
