George Lindley, son of Amsey and Nancy Bickerstaff Lindley, was born near Olin, Nov. 22, 1856. He departed this life Dec. 17, 1943, at the home of his son, Clyde, at Marion, at the age of 87 years.
He was the eldest child of a family of nine children, all of whom have preceded him in death but one brother, Ulysses, Blue River, Wis.
He was united in marriage to Effie Ann Hotz Hollingsworth, Jan. 23, 1833. Mrs. Lindley died in 1933.
To this union four sons were born, all of whom survive: Franklin L. and Clyde S., Marion; Henry L., Central City, and Archie B., Martelle; three stepsons, James Hollingsworth, Springville; William Hollingsworth, Marion and Newton Hollingsworth, Olin.
Besides his sons and stepsons there are 14 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews, who survive.
Sammie Weaver officiated at the funeral service and burial was in the Green Center cemetery.
Pallbearers were Earl Duncan, Lloyd Hunter, Forest Easterly, Harve Northey, Noble Parks and Walker Hart.
