December 9, 1943 - The Anamosa Journal

OLIN--Funeral service for Mrs. Karl Hartwig, who died at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, November 25, was held last week at her home and the St. John's American Lutheran church. Rev. A. E. Sommer officiated.

Trio composed of Mrs. Hamer, Mrs. McGuire and Ruth Koering accompanied by Mrs. Stuart, sang three selections. Interment was in Olin cemetery.

Anna Caroline Hartwig, daughter of Ludwig and Louisa Westphal was born March 14, 1875 in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. She came to America with her parents at the age of seven years. With the exception of one year spent near Wyoming, her entire life was spent in Olin and Amber communities.

She was married to Karl Hartwig, July 9, 1896. Her death was preceded by long illness, although she had not been confined to her bed during the summer months.

She is survived by her husband, six children, Mrs. Walter Reber and Mrs. Arthur Burgard, Monroe, Mich.; Robert Louis, Carl, Ernest and Leonard, Olin; a brother and sister, Will of Olin, and Mrs. Fred Rambow of Monroe, Michigan; eight grandchildren and a host of friends.

She was a member of the Lutheran church.
