16 December 1943 - The Anamosa Journal

Funeral service for John C. Mohr, 66, who died suddenly of an attack of heart disease, while entering the postoffice Monday, was held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Smykil home for funerals. Reverend H. L. Beusing was officiating minister. Pallbearers were Frank Post, Lawrence Pillard, Thomas Hardersen, George Soper, Alvin Byerly and Hans Knutsen. Interment was in the Green cemetery.

John C. Mohr was born in Clinton county, Iowa, on November 25, 1877, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Mohr. On January 10, 1915, he married Bessie Easterly, Olin. For the past 28 years he operated a farm two miles north of Anamosa.

Surviving are his wife, three sons, Lee, Monticello; PFC Virgil, somewhere in the southwest Pacific; and Alvin, at home; six brothers, Charles, Peter and William, DeWitt; Hans, Olin; Herman and Fred, Detroit, Mich., and three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Parmentar, Monticello; Mrs. Emma Sutherland, Wyoming; and Dora Leinen, Anamosa
