November 11, 1943 - The Anamosa Journal

Funeral service for Mrs. Addie E. Mowery, 51, who died following a stroke Saturday at her home in Anamosa, was held at Smykil home for funerals Tuesday, Nov. 9, with Rev. J. K. Delahooke officiating. Casketbearers were Herman Adams, Price Blayney, Carles Byers, Marion Platner, P. S. Robertson and Charles Ryan. Burial was at Riverside cemetery, Anamosa.

Mrs. Mowery, daughter of William and Althea Webster, was born March 23, 1892, at Scotch Grove. She attended public school in Jones county and on Feb. 17, 1913 married C. J. Mowery.

Two sons and two daughters were born to this union, and survive, including Victor J. Mowery, Anamosa; William G. Mowery, Chanute Field, Ill.; Mrs. Ethel Klinetop, New Orleans, La.; and Mrs. Theola Young, Charles City.

Mrs. Mowery was a member of Anamosa Methodist church, Anamosa Women's Relief Corps, and the Women's Society of Christian Service at the time of her death.

In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by six sisters and two brothers as follows: Lena Bahnke, Monmouth; Lanie Pickett, Catherine Wright and Marth Ruthbun, all of Monticello; Iola Webster, Scotch Grove; Mille Moore, Monmouth; William D. Webster, Cedar Rapids and Jim Webster, Monticello.
